Happened to glance at a review of Martha’s, my favorite weekend breakfast spot.
“The food, especially the white corn scramble is just fab,” wrote the Yelper, “as long as you don’t lose your appetite what with all the bikers around wearing their spandex and all.”
Hmph….at least that reviewer, unlike some of the others, used the proper spelling of “their”.
As a cyclist, I tend to forget that not just everyone is comfy in….or even around….bicycle clothing.
But I remembered when I stumbled across Sweet Spot, triple-cute wrap skirts that are designed especially to go over your bike pants (or bathing suit, or yoga duds..), to cover, uh, your Sweet Spot. Came across them when I was in Seattle expo for the Rock n Roll Marathon and their cuteness stopped me.
Stephanie Carroll, was a real estate broker in Vancouver out in 2009 photographing a property on her bike…she threw on an old disco skirt over her bike shorts so as not to scare the clients. Shocked, despite helmet-hair, she kept getting compliments on that skirt. She had a design perfected in no time.
Stephanie is as nice as she is creative and snapped a skirt on right over my jeans. The skirt is reversible. It’s short enough to be cute and still ride with it if you want. The rows of snaps at front make it really easy to put on and size friendly. The “sport size” fits sizes 2-14….truly. And there are Sweet, and Super Sweet sizes, smaller and larger.
My drawer of biking duds is overflowing….but I just had to have one.
